The hotel’s elegant ambiance and central location made it the perfect base for our Parisian adventure. The friendly staff and comfortable rooms set the tone for a delightful stay. From the moment we entered the hotel’s lobby, we felt the warm embrace of Parisian hospitality. The hotel’s classic decor, with its rich tapestries and ornate furnishings, transported us to a bygone era of luxury and elegance. Our room came with a small balcony with views of the Eiffel Tower, which we loved!
– Arc de Triomphe: With no time to waste, we embarked on our first evening of exploration. Our first stop was the iconic Arc de Triomphe, a symbol of French national pride. Climb to the top for a sweeping view of the bustling Champs-Élysées and the radiating avenues that lead to this monumental centerpiece of Paris!
– Eiffel Tower: Our next destination was the world-famous Eiffel Tower set along the Seine River. Visiting the Eiffel Tower was an unforgettable experience. Although I didn’t go to the top, the view from the park area was still breathtaking. The iron lattice structure stood tall and majestic, and I couldn’t help but take numerous photos of its intricate details. The atmosphere was vibrant with tourists and locals alike, making it a perfect spot for people-watching and enjoying a leisurely afternoon.
– Tuileries Garden: To end the day on a peaceful note, we took a leisurely stroll through the Tuileries Garden. The well-manicured gardens, elegant fountains, and the tranquility they provided were a welcome contrast to the bustling city streets. It was the perfect way to unwind after a day of travel and sightseeing. The garden’s allure extended beyond its natural beauty. As we walked along the gravel pathways, we encountered sculptures, reflecting pools, and quiet corners where visitors relaxed on classic green chairs.
Day 2: Parisian Wonders
– Louvre Museum: Our second day in Paris was dedicated to exploring the artistic and cultural treasures of the city. We started with a visit to the world-famous Louvre Museum, home to the enigmatic Mona Lisa and countless other masterpieces. The Louvre’s glass pyramid entrance was a modern architectural masterpiece that provided a striking contrast to the classical beauty of the museum’s interior. We opted to enjoy lattes at Cafe Louvre, which made for great people-watching.
– Stohrer Patisserie, the oldest patisserie in Paris: Visiting Stohrer Patisserie, the oldest patisserie in Paris, is like stepping back in time to savor the timeless art of French pastry-making. Located in the heart of the city, this historic establishment exudes an air of elegance and tradition that instantly transports you to the 18th century. As you enter the charming, vintage storefront, the sweet aroma of freshly baked pastries wafts through the air, tantalizing your senses. The display cases are a feast for the eyes, showcasing an array of meticulously crafted desserts, from delicate éclairs to luscious fruit tarts and buttery croissants. Stohrer’s legacy is rich, and the taste of their pastries is equally impressive, making a visit to this patisserie an absolute must for anyone seeking an authentic taste of Parisian culinary history.
– Palais-Royal: Located nearby, the Palais-Royal offers a taste of French elegance. Its picturesque courtyard, surrounded by arcades and gardens, was a delightful place for a leisurely stroll and some memorable photographs. The striped black and white columns of Daniel Buren’s art installation added a contemporary twist to the historic surroundings.
– Notre Dame: My visit to Notre Dame in Paris was both poignant and informative. While I couldn’t enter the cathedral due to its ongoing reconstruction, I explored the exhibit areas surrounding the structure. The detailed posters showcasing the history of Notre Dame and the intricacies of its reconstruction were educational and helped me gain a deeper appreciation for this iconic monument. I spent time walking around the exterior, marveling at the stunning Gothic architecture and taking photos of the cathedral’s majestic façade. Despite not being able to go inside, the visit was still a meaningful and visually captivating experience, offering a glimpse into the resilience and beauty of this historic landmark.
– Lunch at Terra Nera: Our culinary exploration continued as we made our way to Terra Nera for a memorable lunch experience. This charming restaurant, made famous by its appearance in the popular Netflix series “Emily in Paris,” was a delightful fusion of French elegance and delectable cuisine. Close by is Emily’s apartment if you’re looking for a photo opportunity.
– Pantheon: From the delightful culinary journey at Terra Nera, we continued our day with a visit to the historic Pantheon. This neoclassical masterpiece, originally built as a church, stands as a testament to France’s rich history and its most distinguished citizens. As we entered the Pantheon, we were immediately struck by the grandeur of the interior. The soaring dome, adorned with a stunning fresco, created a sense of awe and reverence. One of the highlights of our visit was the famous crypt, a resting place for numerous notable figures in French history, including Voltaire, Rousseau, Victor Hugo, and Marie Curie. After exploring the Pantheon’s interior, we decided to take the steps to the top for an even more extraordinary experience. Climbing to the summit provided us with 360-degree, breathtaking views of Paris. From this vantage point, we could see the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, and the Notre Dame Cathedral, all set against the picturesque backdrop of the city’s rooftops. The visit to the Pantheon, with its impressive interior and the panoramic views from its summit, truly encapsulated the historical and visual splendor of Paris.
– Luxembourg Gardens: To round off the day on a peaceful note, we ventured to the serene Luxembourg Gardens, a well-manicured oasis nestled in the heart of bustling Paris. The meticulously landscaped gardens, adorned with elegant statues and fountains, were a testament to French horticultural artistry. The Luxembourg Gardens were a welcome contrast to the bustling city streets, providing a sanctuary of tranquility and natural beauty. It was the perfect way to unwind and connect with the more serene side of Paris.
– Dinner at Beefbar: Our day concluded with a memorable dinner at Beefbar. As we entered the restaurant, we were immediately struck by the elegant ambiance. The menu at Beefbar featured a tantalizing selection of steak cuts, each expertly prepared to perfection. We shared a plethora of shareable plates and steaks, and we also enjoyed expertly crafted cocktails and wine.
Day 3: A Day of Splendor in Versailles
– Breakfast at Ore Versailles: Our day was dedicated to the opulent Palace of Versailles. To start, we enjoyed a sumptuous breakfast at Ore Versailles, which offered not only delicious food but also front-of-the-line entrance to the Palace. The set menu and top-notch lattes ensured we had the energy needed for a day of exploration.
– Palace of Versailles : The grandeur of the Palace of Versailles left us speechless. The opulent halls, stunning gardens, and the Hall of Mirrors were a testament to the extravagance of the French monarchy. It was a true journey back in time. The Hall of Mirrors, in particular, was a highlight of our visit. Its gilded architecture, crystal chandeliers, and the 357 mirrors that lined the walls created a dazzling effect. We also explored the palace’s royal apartments, each more sumptuous than the last. The King’s Grand Apartment and the Queen’s Grand Apartment showcased the luxury in which the royal couple lived. The palace’s gardens were equally stunning, with meticulously manicured lawns, grand fountains, and statues that added to the sense of grandeur.
– Arc de Triomphe: Returning to Paris in the afternoon, we couldn’t resist another visit to the Arc de Triomphe. The wide boulevard leading to the arch, the Champs-Élysées, was bustling with activity. We took the opportunity to snap some more photos and admire the city from this vantage point.
– Bistro dinner at Chez André: Our evening was a culinary delight with dinner at a local bistro. It was here that I finally indulged in a bowl of classic French onion soup.
